These battered emotions twist inside me
To whom do I turn when no one can see
There's pain that's bridled, lashed inside
Pain I've ignored, pain I've tried to hide
A moment of anguish, a tear slides down
Emotions unguarded; I let myself frown
Wanting peace I walk through the dark
Praying for light on my journey embark
Forward I travel through miserable cold
Nightly my dreams are of joining His fold
The path is uneven, the road hard to tread
Many sorrows abound, many tears shed
A reaching hand comes out of the night
Offering hope and help through my fight
Healing abounding; peace comes to reign
Happiness encircles, no room for the pain
